Message from a CSD Teacher

I am Christina School District proud. I have been for the 6 years that I have worked for them. In fact, I am tearing up as I type this for the simple fact that I don’t think that I could be prouder of this school district. We have the best schools, the best teachers, and the best students. I am a proud member of the McVey community and have been lucky enough to work with the Jones staff and the Brennan staff. With luck and fortitude, I will retire happily from this district.

We have an operating referendum coming up. We are looking to build the road to a NEW and improved Christina. Before you brush me off and stop reading this message, I want you to ask yourself several questions. Do you want your children to have a positive education? Do you want your children to be able to participate in extracurricular activities or Talented and Gifted? Do you want your kids to be one of 30-40 in a classroom? Yes, yes, and no, correct?

This district wants what is best for the CHILDREN. This operating referendum isn’t for administration. It is for CHILDREN. It is for smaller class sizes. It is for those activities that your kids take place in. It is for a more positive school climate and more focus on discipline.

I am a resident of Red Clay. They passed a referendum last year. My mortgage barely went up. I don’t even notice it. I’m still able to do the things I love and drink way too much coffee everyday. In fact, the support I am providing Red Clay each day is costing me LESS than the coffee I drink each day.

So please….don’t just say that you are going to vote. Our children need this badly. Every vote counts for THEM. Every person who walks into a CSD school on March 23rd with a “yes” vote will support our kids. And we need all the “yes” votes we can get.

You do NOT need to be a homeowner to vote. If you are a resident in CSD with a valid ID, whether you own a house or not, you can vote. Homeowners, home renters, people who live in apartments, students…you can vote as long as you are in CSD.

There is an information session at Shue on March 16th at 7:00 PM. I encourage you to attend if you want more information. Also, feel free to visit for more info.

The Referendum Steering Committee is being chaired by Brian Stephan, a Christina parent and member of the Citizens Budget Oversight Committee; Mary Schorse, a …

In the meantime, spread the word about our referendum and what it means for our kids. I know this is lengthy but I’m truly speaking from the heart. Feel free to share this as well. ‪#‎pavingtheway‬ ‪#‎CSDPride‬ ‪#‎CSDProud‬
