An Operating Referendum request by the Christina School District was approved by residents on March 23 by a margin of 145 votes. The unofficial results were 6770 votes for the referendum, and 6625 votes against.
The Referendum Steering Committee is being chaired by Brian Stephan, a Christina parent and member of the Citizens Budget Oversight Committee; Mary Schorse, a Christina parent and co-chair of the Friends of Christina School District organization; and Ken Livingston, a Wilmington resident and site coordinator of the East Side Community School program at Stubbs Elementary School.
The referendum will:
- Increase funding for all students, classroom teachers, and school support staff
- Support high priority programming and initiatives
- Build a NEW Christina Together
